WhatsAppSince the 1800s, Darjeeling has held the crown of India’s most beloved hill station. With its rolling tea gardens, the legendary Toy Train, and the majestic backdrop of Mount Kanchenjunga, it offers a "royal" experience to every traveler.
1. Tiger Hill (The Sunrise Point)
The most iconic spot in Darjeeling. Tourists wake up at 3:30 AM to catch the sun rising over Mt. Kanchenjunga. On a very clear day, even Mt. Everest is visible in the distance.
2. Batasia Loop & War Memorial
A lush green railway loop where the Toy Train makes a 360-degree turn. In the center is a memorial dedicated to the brave Gorkha soldiers. It offers a panoramic view of Darjeeling town.
3. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train)
A UNESCO World Heritage site. The "Joy Ride" between Darjeeling and Ghum is a nostalgic experience powered by a vintage steam engine that whistles through the clouds.
4. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI)
Founded to honor Tenzing Norgay after he climbed Everest. It features a museum with historic climbing gear and serves as a premier training center for mountaineers.
5. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
The only zoo in India where you can see high-altitude animals like the Red Panda, Snow Leopard, and Tibetan Wolf in a natural, forested environment.
6. Peace Pagoda & Japanese Temple
Built under the guidance of Buddhist monks from Japan, this massive white stupa radiates peace. It’s the best spot for a quiet sunset and a 360-degree view of the valley.
7. The Mall (Chowrasta)
The town square where no vehicles are allowed. It’s the perfect place to sit on a bench, ride a horse, or sip tea while watching the world go by.
Mirik is a picturesque hill station situated at an altitude of 4,905 ft, famous for its climate and natural beauty. For tourists, it is the perfect spot for a relaxing day trip.
Located just 15 km from Mirik, Pashupati Nagar is the gateway to Nepal. It is a major attraction for those who love shopping and want a glimpse of life across the border.
Lamahata is a roadside paradise known for its towering pine trees and "Sacred Lake."
The name "Tinchuley" comes from the three hilltops that resemble traditional ovens (chulhas). It is a destination for peace and sunrise lovers.
Takdah was once a British Cantonment (military area) and still retains its colonial charm with old stone bungalows and misty paths.
